From Constitutional Carry in Alabama and Indiana to health freedom in New Hampshire, YAL’s Hazlitt Coalition makes tens of millions of Americans more free
Austin, TX — Today, Young Americans for
To support YAL’s Hazlitt Coalition and enact pro-liberty legislation across America, the organization has mobilized more than 1,500 student activists in favor of policy priorities like Constitutional Carry, medical freedom, school choice, and more. As a result, YAL’s hundreds of student activists have paved the way for its more than 320 Hazlitt members to pass over 150 bills in their respective state legislatures. Alabama and Indiana, for example, are now both Constitutional Carry states because of YAL. New Hampshire, meanwhile, passed 17 health freedom bills in 2022 alone due to YAL’s involvement. All in all, the Hazlitt Coalition is making tens of millions of Americans more free with each passing year.
The legislative success would not be possible without YAL’s efforts on the ground. To date, the Hazlitt Action Program has knocked over 261,000 doors, distributed nearly 521,000 mailers, and made more than 2.1 million phone calls in support of pro-liberty legislation. YAL’s pro-Constitutional Carry mailers in Indiana were recognized by the AAPC. The direct engagement with American citizens—in Indiana and around the country—proves that youth activists can make a true difference when they work to make liberty win.
“Winning two Pollie Awards is a huge honor for us at Young Americans for Liberty, and it shows that our team is making a real difference in the fight to protect individual liberties,” said YAL Policy Director Heather Fazio. “We’re proud of what our activists have accomplished this past year, and we’re excited to keep pushing forward and defending the liberties of Americans everywhere.”
