Advancing liberty at the state level, YAL’s Hazlitt Coalition now controls 4.5% of America’s state house seats
Austin, TX — Today, Young Americans for Liberty (YAL)—the nation’s most active youth liberty organization—announced that its Hazlitt Coalition now includes more than 250 pro-liberty legislators from nearly 40 states. Dedicated to advancing the cause of liberty at the state level, the Hazlitt Coalition has made 91 million Americans more free in 2022.
The Hazlitt Coalition’s most significant victory to date came in Texas last year, with pro-liberty legislators passing a Constitutional Carry law that upholds gun rights for nearly 30 million Texans. But YAL is not resting on its laurels: The organization is building on its momentum by bringing even more Hazlitt members into the fold—and holding them accountable to voters.
YAL’s announcement comes in the midst of its annual student conference, Revolution 2022, the largest pro-liberty event of the year. Being held this week in Orlando, Florida, Rev22 features Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Dr. Ron Paul, and Tulsi Gabbard, in addition to more than 1,000 student activists who advance YAL’s mission on college campuses. YAL represents over 5,000 student activists at more than 500 colleges and universities across the country.
“Four years ago, we set out to achieve our biggest, boldest goal as an organization: To build a coalition of 250 pro-liberty state legislators across the country,” said YAL CEO Lauren Daugherty. “From school choice to Constitutional Carry, our Hazlitt coalition helped to make over 91 million Americans more free in 2022 alone. Now that YAL has rocketed past our goal even faster than expected, we are looking forward to even bigger victories in the future.”
