Being in one of the more liberal states in the country, the team at Eastern Washington University took aim at creating an environment where all ideas can be heard, regardless of content.

Former State Chair, Taylor Anderson worked with the Foundation for Individual RIghts in Education to bring model policy language directly to the heads of Eastern Washington. Anxious for the fight for their lives, the group went into their meeting, and came out with completely unexpected results.

Normally, institutions are reluctant to change. Normally. Eastern Washington University took one look at the memorandum presented to them, looked around, and said “This is exactly what we’ve been looking for. We will get this implemented by the beginning of next year.”

The students were stunned. After following up, developing relationships, and continually stressing the importance of Free Speech on college campuses, Taylor Anderson and the team at Eastern Washington University were able to move mountains.
