In the Spring of 2020, YAL partnered with the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) to target and remove as many unconstitutional speech policies with letters from the law firm. These “demand letters” would inform the school of the unconstitutionality of the policies and question and demand the policies be changed.
In April 2020 Salisbury student, and YAL member, Andrew Bradley delivered one of ADF’s demand letters to the school. Bradley, YAL, and ADF followed up consistently as the university administration tried to use the Covid panic as an excuse not to fix the policies that chill students’ speech. After consistent work from all parties, Salisbury removed the school’s requirement to gain prior permission before recruiting students on campus.
