In March, YAL sent a policy memo directly to Wake Tech Community College’s Administration and received no response. Then in May, YAL reached out to a new member on the phone. New Chapter President, Patrick Cooke, was very excited about the free speech efforts on campus and enthusiastically agreed to resend Garcia’s letter and ask the school…”did you answer this?”
With added pressure from a student of the institution, the school answered Garcia saying they were willing to change their solicitation policy to match his suggestions. Students now are not at risk of being shut down for soliciting without a permit.
