The University of North Carolina – Charlotte chapter of Young Americans for Liberty took free speech activism to the extreme during the 2016-2017 academic year. The organization hosted a free speech ball at multiple sporting events, University sponsored activities, and as a recruitment tool.

The club garnered support from dozens of student organizations on campus, student government members, and UNC Charlotte administrators to reform the unruly speech policies outlined by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.
