In Fall of 2024, Quinn Whittington began targeting University of North Carolina Greensboro, she began establishing a chapter on campus when she noticed that students were not permitted to carry pepper spray for self-defense. Determined to address this issue, Quinn collaborated with the Student Rights Campaign (SRC) team to develop a plan to change the university’s policy. She worked diligently, collecting an impressive 770 signatures for her petition. After submitting the petition, the administration remained silent, offering no response for an entire semester. Undeterred, Quinn took on a free speech advocacy effort while awaiting a potential policy update. On March 12, 2025, the SRC team received an email from Quinn containing notification from the university: pepper spray was now permitted as an exception to the weapons policy, marking a successful outcome for her efforts.
