Story:

Quinn Whittington was at University of North Carolina Greensboro advocating for pepper spray rights on campus when she encountered a significant challenge: her usual tabling spot in the outdoor area was closed due to construction. This closure, prompted by valid safety concerns, created logistical difficulties for Quinn and the SRC team as they worked to challenge the university’s policies. Despite these obstacles, Quinn remained determined to press forward.

Undaunted, she continued tabling in alternative locations, tirelessly gathering signatures to abolish the university’s free speech zones. Through her persistent efforts, Quinn amassed hundreds of signatures and successfully raised awareness about the restrictive nature of these zones. Her campaign gained momentum, drawing significant attention to the issue.

After months of dedicated advocacy, Quinn received an email with triumphant news: the university had revised its free speech policy, eliminating the restrictive zones and streamlining the guidelines for clarity and freedom of speech. In addition, her fight for pepper spray rights prevailed, securing a second victory. These dual successes marked a significant achievement for Quinn making her one of the few activists to get two different policy wins at once.
