The fight began when State Chair Lucas Baumgartner and the Student Rights team discovered a vaccine mandate on the Colorado School of Mines campus. Realizing the potential impact on student rights, they swiftly took action, mobilizing their chapter to rally against the policy. Within a short time, they collected 500 petition signatures, a clear demonstration of the widespread opposition among students. Determined to make their voices heard, the chapter planned to Deliver the petition signatures to the administration, prepared to present their case and push for the policy’s removal.
However, the administration, sensing the growing momentum of the student-led movement, decided to back down before the hearing could even take place. Fearing the backlash and the strong, organized resistance from the chapter, they chose to revoke the vaccine mandate.
